Vakıflı: Türkiye's Only Armenian Village

A stone village among orange groves on the slopes of Musa Mountain — churches, organic produce and a peaceful half-day trip.

3 min 10.04.2026 Samandağ / Hatay

Just a few kilometres from central Samandağ, on the sea-facing slope of Musa Mountain, lies Vakıflı — the only Armenian village in Türkiye. With its stone houses, quiet square and welcoming people, it is the most peaceful stop on a Samandağ itinerary.

A Stroll Through the Village

The Surp Asdvadzadzin (Holy Mother of God) Church at the centre is open to visitors. At the café beside it, local women sell organic pomegranate molasses, orange jam, za'atar and homemade preserves. Wander among the orchards and let the hours slip by.

Truva Life tip: Sundays are livelier; the church courtyard and produce stalls are at their best before noon.
