The Titus Tunnel: Roman Engineering Carved into the Mountain

In the village of Hıdırbey stands an ancient oriental plane tree estimated to be 2,500–3,000 years old, its trunk more than 20 metres in circumference — one of the oldest trees in Türkiye, protected as a natural monument.
The Legend
Local tradition holds that Moses planted his staff in the ground here, and the staff took root and grew into today's giant. The spring beside it runs ice-cold even at the height of summer.
Around the Tree
Tea gardens and pancake stalls cluster in the tree's shade; a glass of freshly squeezed pomegranate juice here is a Samandağ ritual. Continue on to Vakıflı village or the Musa Mountain trails.
